Terms & Conditions

The following terms of service between the customer (“you”, “your”) and Rent & Renew (“we”, “our”, “us”, or “Rent & Renew”) governs your use of the Rent & Renew Rental Service ("Terms of Service").

All Users of the Services are required to read, accept and agree to comply with these Terms. If you do not wish to accept the Terms, you should not register and MUST stop using the Services immediately.

Rent & Renew reserves the right to accept or reject any order at our sole and absolute discretion.

Rent & Renew reserves the right to make changes to the Services and to these Terms which will not materially affect your use of the Services. Rent & Renew strongly recommends that you revisit these Terms each time you use the Services to familiarise yourself with any amendments. Once we have made the changes to the Services and/or these Terms, acceptance will be inferred from your continued use of the Services. In the event that we make any significant changes to the Services and/or these Terms during your rental period, we will notify you in writing and provide you with an opportunity to cease use of the Services before the changes take effect.

 

Light Wear & Tear:

We want you to be able to enjoy your rental handbag, and treat it as if it were your own!

We do understand that your rental may be subject to some light wear and tear, and you will not be charged for this. Light wear and tear includes:

  • Very minor scratches to the hardware
  • Very minor scratches to the corners or trim
  • Very minor marks to the interior, that CAN be removed

Anything outside of the above list is NOT considered 'light wear and tear', and you may be charged if damages occur outside of this. You can read more about our damage charges below.

 

If you want peace of mind when renting, we offer an optional Damage Protection add on, which you can browse here.

Our damage protection add on covers all damages, excluding the below:

  • Loss/Theft
  • Any missing parts to the item
  • Fire/smoke damage 

Please note our damage protection add on is non refundable.

 

What happens if your rental is subject to loss/theft, missing parts or fire/smoke damage? 

Please contact us immediately if any of the above occurs, by email at rentandrenew@designerexchange.ie

If theft occurs, you are also required to report this to the relevant authorities. 

Unfortunately if any of the above occurs you will be liable to pay the cost price of the item in full.

 

How to care for your rental?

 There is some simple tips & tricks you should follow when renting, to ensure damage is not caused. Some examples are available below:

  • When not in use, store your rental in the dust bag provided.
  • When not in use, remove any additional straps or charms, and store them inside your rental. 
  • Be cautious of the different leather types when storing your rental. For example a Chanel Classic Flap leather and chain intertwined strap can damage the exterior or interior leather of your rental. Try to store this in a way that the chain is not resting against the leather. 
  • Avoid spraying any perfumes/body sprays or anything fragranced near your rental. 
  • If you smoke please store your cigarettes in a zip lock plastic bag, inside your rental. 
  • If you are carrying make up inside your rental, please make sure it is stored correctly and won't leak or spill. 
  • Avoid sitting your rental on sticky/dirty surfaces or on the ground. 
  • This rental is issued for your use privately and should not be transferred to a 3rd Party for use during this period. 

 

Please note each item is photographed and checked before your rental period starts, and the same when the rental period ends. This is part of our return approval process, which you can read more about below.

Verification

Once you have placed your order, you will be emailed a verification link in order to verify your identity. You will need to have a government issued ID handy, this can be a passport, driving license, etc. The order will only be finalised once verification has been completed and you will subsequently be sent an approval email with the full details of your order.

Damage Charges:

If damage beyond light wear and tear is discovered during the return approval process, we will seek advice from a handbag restoration specialist, who will then provide a repair cost. We will notify you by email to inform you that your item has NOT passed its return approval process and inform you of the exact repair cost. 

You will be invoiced for the cost of the damages, with full details as to why you are being charged the amount stated. 

However, if you purchase our damage protection add on you will NOT be charged for damages. Please note our damage protection add on does NOT cover loss/theft, missing parts to the item or fire/smoke damage, and therefore if any of these occur you will be required to pay the full cost of the item. 

 

Returning your rental:

You must return your rental on time. If your rental is not returned on time you will be subject to late fees. Your rental return date will be given to you at the point of checkout.

Your rental period starts from the day your rental is delivered to you or the day you picked your rental up in store, and that day is counted as 'Day 1'. 

If you are returning your item to us in store, your 'return date' is the date you must drop the item to our store, noting our opening hours here. When you return your rental to our store, you will be given a duplicate receipt from one of our store team, confirming you have dropped off your rental return. 

If you are returning your item through An Post, using a pre-paid return shipping label, your 'return date' is the day you must drop the item to An Post, noting you must check your local An Post opening hours. 

How do late fees work?

Any late fees will be invoiced to you directly.  

1 day late will incur a €30 charge

2 days late will incur an additional €70 charge, meaning the total fee for returning an item 2 days late is €100.

If you return your rental more than 2 days late you will be required to pay the full cost of the item. If you are having genuine issues with returning your rental, please contact us immediately at rentandrenew@designerexchange.ie. We are always here to assist. 

Please note we can monitor all delivery & return dates closely through our courier provider. As explained in our shipment & delivery policy, if there is a delivery delay at the fault of our courier partner, we will extend your rental period accordingly. However, if the courier is not at fault, your rental period will not be extended. If your item is returned to us late at the fault of our courier partner, you will not be charged a late fee. However, if the courier is not at fault, our normal late fees will apply. 

 

Cancellation:

We allow a 48 hour cooling off period, if you wish to cancel your order. This 48 hour cooling off period is from the time you initially placed your rental order. If you wish to cancel your order please email us at rentandrenew@designerexchange.ie 

If you wish to cancel your order after this 48 hour period, unfortunately you will NOT be refunded any of the cost.
